Alanis Morissette
Alanis Nadine was born June 1, 1974. She was born in Ottawa, Canada. Alanis' Greek is a female form of the surname Alan's father had. Her mother's name's Georgia and her brothers are Chad as well as Wade (Alanis"Twin"). She started playing the piano in her early years, aged 6 and then took up guitar at age 21. Alanis released a single in 1986 entitled Fate Stay With My (b Side: Find The Right Man). As a Canadian dance-pop artist who recorded two albums: Alanis (1991), and the album Now Is The Time (1992). When she was 18, she moved to Toronto and worked with several performers and song writers, but the collaborations didn't work. In 1994, she finally discovered the perfect partner in writer and producer Glen Ballard, who had already worked with many musicians, such as Aretha Franklin Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand. After moving to LA the singer turned 19 years old. On June 13th 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was made available via Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis was able to come up with the idea of writing songs that was completely personal to her and based on her own life experiences. JLP is the 3rd most-sold album ever and has sold more than more than 30 million times around globe. The singer was in a state of emotionally tense time (she was even considering not making an album) and travelled in India.
